FrogJS hops to version 1.1

I’ve received a bunch of emails that last couple weeks about using my FrogJS gallery. Many of you were having problems in IE 6 and 7. I could only recreate the problem when the script was run locally, so I thought maybe it was a weird permissions bug in IE. Well I took another look at the problem today and was finally able to track down the real issue. Firefox (along with most other browsers) allows you to access global variables before its construtor has finished. Internet Explorer does not. Now that I think about it, I believe IE’s behavior was actually correct, but I’ll have to dig through some javascript documentation to be sure.

Another addition to FrogJS is the ability to link your main image to another website. Just add the `rel` attribute to your links with the URL. The example files in the FrogJS v1.1 zip file show this new technique. This feature goes against the actual purpose for the `rel` attribute, but there didn’t seem to be a better way to implement it and maintain backwards compatibility with FrogJS version 1.0.

Again, thank you everyone that tried this script out and found bugs in it. There’s only so much testing I can do on my own.

Love this script to death! I use it as a dynamic menu linking the images to pages on my site. Kudos Eric.

Hey Eric, check out my new series: http://www.joesak.com/design/a-web-design-process-part-i/

Great script!!

Can this consume a RSS feed of photos? For example, could I use my Flickr XML/RSS feed and have them displayed in this script?

Hi, Eric!

The script is WOW … but … when I want to use it (placed) in a SpryTabbedPanes (Dreamweaver), it doesn’t work.

I realy hope you or someone else from this blog can help me.

please help me to solve this: http://www.betfer.co.uk/ruwett/scena.html
..sometimes the thumbs disappear!!

Hi eric, i like your FrogJS gallery but there is any way this script play on mozilla?

Sometimes the thumbs disappear, cant figure out why it happens, works fine locally only the net it happens. Images load fine, just don’t always pop up the first time. If you hit the previous thumb, it instantly displays fine

I want to incorporate you FrogJS script into our photo gallery, but don’t know how to make it work. I actually found your script on Dynamic Drive. Please help! Thank you.

I like it so much… Is there way to add auto play with (Start/Pause) button ….
Regards

I love your gallery so much that I want to put up several photo galleries on the same webpage. But the second gallery of pictures only shows thumbnails… why?

FrogJS only allows a single gallery per page. If you want to put multiple galleries on a page, you could try putting each gallery in it’s own iframe.

Hi,

A really good one for slideshow. How can I make it auto sliding one?

Hi Eric,
Really like your gallery and really want to use it on my website to display my paintings, but I’m having a problem adding images to the gallery. Only first 5 are displayed, the sixth one keeps loading with no eminent results. I checked the spelling and the code - no errors. Any ideas what could i possibly be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

Hi Eric,

Love the script - well done. Is there any way to have it showing the first 3 images on load - eg. one larger one in the middle, and two thumbs either side?

(Sorry, I’m just learning).

Many thanks,
Des.

Hi Eric,

Amazing script. It saved my butt. Someone mentioned that sometimes the thumbs disappear. I’m having the same problem, it’s totally random, just sometimes (no matter what browser) they’ll not show up at all, or disappear during browsing the gallery.

I’ve got galleries that have up to 30 photos on them, maybe that’s too much? I’ve noticed that no matter how much I screw around with your demo, the thumbs never disappear but there’s only 3 photos in it.

Anyway, I was wondering if there’s any new developments with this gallery solution?

Thank you for the great script! I really like it.

Ville
